THE POLE OF PUBLIC

The main acters of the installation are the teddy bears which have real calf~s eyes sawn onto them. Those teddies are the audience and they are set in front of the gallery walls on which the pictures are ehibited, which are actually objects made of pigskin spread onto the frames. The teddies are hermetically sealed in the jars and POSLAGANE in a pole like tins in a supermarket. This installation is called The Pole of Public. This is primarily to criticize the audience who visits the art exhibitions and sees the pieces with the eyes of a calf, but not percieve the real message that a piece of art carries. As the pigskin tightens, the canvas tightens, too. There isnt the idea of a nihilistic destruction of the tradition there, or negation of classical art. The exhibition of animal skins also brings criticism of the gallery itslef, and its exhibition policy. The combination of organic and inorganic materials expresses the wish to bring the effect of sickness and shock to the spectators. The teddy bears and real eyes of a calf represent a unique contrast. The teddies by themselves represent something childish, innocent and a little shugarry, a carefree reality, which completely collapses once organic eyes are sawn onto them, and once they are set in front of naturalistic pictures-objects, in front of the skinned animals spread on the frames.
